Player conduct on the server

Something that's been bugging me for the past couple of weeks (and I'm sure some of the other VED members) is the accusations of cheating made in game by various people.

This is extremely annoying. The admins on our server all have a lot of experience with this game and know how to spot most things. From time to time we may get players on who are obviously cheating and they are dealt with accordingly.

I'm confident that non of our VED members and regulars are cheating. We've all been playing on the server together quite happily for some time now with no complaints. We all have different skill levels and we all make shots that seem impossible from time to time. That's just the way the game is.

It's just recently that one or two players have decided that the world is against them and that everytime they get shot the person who shot them must be cheating. Because how else could they have managed to kill them? Surely they didn't actually aim and fire using their mouse and years of practice? That seems impossible to these people.

If you really are that paranoid and self centred that you think everybody is cheating, please keep it to yourself or leave. We don't want to hear your lame justifications for getting shot by someone with more skill than you every time you die.

Obviously there are players who come on sometimes with blatant cheats or who are doing something that's a bit suspicious. In those cases just let an admin know and they can spec them/take a demo and deal with it.

What did I miss? Or did you miss me?
Uhm... yeah... everybody has the right to say... hmm that looked weird... or I don't trust that... but if they can't prove that anyone is cheating, it's better to keep quiet & search for proof to show some of us is cheating.

To those who think there are people cheating, just remember that the admin and experienced members are on the constant look-out for anything suspicious, and will deal with cheats in the appropriate way. If you find that other players are getting hits when you are not, you can either practice more, or check your game settings to reduce high ping or any loss or choke; both of which will make the 'player' you are shooting to appear to be where they are not, as your visual image will be lagging slightly behind where the player actually is. It is also worth remembering that when a player is moving, the hit-boxes (that register the hit) lag slightly behind. So if you get hit just after you run behind a wall or duck below it and you still get killed, this is the reason why.

Any one of the admin (or me) will happily help players improve their game/settings

But most of all remember it is only a game, so enjoy.

I feel a little bit bad actualy, i would never acuse any of you guys of cheating. but i often comment on how lucky your kills may have been, and for that i apologise. sorry, i will try to stop doing it from now on.

Don't worry about it DishDash.

A bit of friendly banter is always good. Everyone has those 'WTF?' moments but my original post was aimed at a particular player who had started to make the game a lot less enjoyable for everyone else by accusing everyone of cheating and complaining all the time. His accusations weren't just friendly banter - he truly believed that almost everyone else was cheating and that anyone who shot him was hacking.

It would have been funny if it wasn't so sad but thankfully he doesn't play on the server anymore.

At the moment we've got a good bunch of regulars and members playing on the server and everyone seems to understand each other's sense of humor. The odd joke comment about someone's haxor skills or whatever is normal because that's all it is - a joke. Like I said the original post was intended for someone who took things a bit too seriously. So don't worry about it.
